Sending Tickets with MailChimp

1. Sign in to MailChimp

2. Click the Audience icon

3. Click All contacts

4. If you have more than one audience, click the Current audience drop-down and choose the one you want to work with.

5. Click the Settings drop-down and choose Audience fields and *|MERGE|* tags.

6. Click Add A Field and choose Text.

7. Call the field 'Ticket ID' and set the tag to 'TICKET'

8. Click Add A Field again and choose Text.

9. Call the field 'Ticket URL' and set the tag to 'TICKETURL'

At the match stage, some fields will error.  You will now need to match the fields created earlier with the fields in the file.Click on the '!' next to "Ticket Code"

Click on the '!' next to "Ticket Code"

In the drop down, select 'Ticket ID (TICKET)'

Click 'Confirm' and repeat for the 'URL' linking it to 'TICKET URL (TICKETURL)'

Then click the arrow to scroll across to 'Full Name'.  Click the '!' and choose 'Add a new field'

Call the field 'Full Name'

You can ignore the 'available', 'Created date' and 'User ID' fields

MailChimp should say "4 columns will be imported. 3 columns will not be imported."

Your fields should look like this:

Click 'Finalize Import' and 'Complete Import'

Edit the campaign name and call it 'delegate tickets 1'

Next to 'To' click 'Edit Recipients'

Signup Source will show the date of your import.

Add a 'from' address and a 'subject' such as 'Your event ticket'

Click 'Design email' and create an email.

Be sure to highlight 'Click here' and turn it into a URL.  Use the *|TICKETURL|* code to make it into a clickable link that pre-populates the delegate's ticket on signup.
